Musical Director: Jo Sear
Jo Sear has been singing since she was 3 years old and is passionate about the singing voice and its many powers!
She has spent the last 11 years working both as a vocal coach for private students and dance school students, and as a peripatetic singing teacher working within secondary schools for Hertfordshire Music Service. Over the last 23 years, Jo has worked both as a professional singer in function bands and musical theatre and has also worked in CCM studios as a session singer.
Jo describes herself as a ‘total voice nerd’, and has studied hard at her craft, completing two full Level 1 and 2 Estill Voice Training courses and many other day courses on vocal training at the Royal Academy of Music, Birmingham School of Acting and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts amongst others. She hopes to complete an MA in Professional Voice Practice within the next two years.
She approaches every choir session with energy and exuberance and knows how to get the crowd going!
Ken was taught piano from age 8, and his first teacher was a concert pianist. By the age of 12, Ken was improvising Mozart and other classical composers. Ken studied music at Brunel, London, then went on to study jazz piano with Liam Noble. Ken runs his own music quintet. He works as a freelance musician and teaches piano. Ken has been the piano accompanist to The One Voice Watford Community Choir since Autumn 2013, bringing his own inimitable, relaxed style to the choir, which perfectly complements Jo's musical direction.
