Dear OVC Members
Jo and the OVC committee are delighted to announce that indoor Choir rehearsals will resume once again from Thursday 09 September 2021 at 7:30pm and we very much look forward welcoming everyone back to the Muse building after such a long absence.
Even though the Government has lifted its COVID19 restrictions, the virus remains apart of our everyday lives and because of this it has been necessary to draw up a set of temporary COVID19 rehearsal attendance procedures in the interest of safety and wellbeing.
Please make sure that you read the new COVID19 rehearsal attendance procedures (detailed below) which take effect Thursday 09 September 2021.
Please note that there are 7 rehearsal weeks for this half term commencing 09 September and ending 21 October and the cost for attending this period is £28.00 per person. Wherever possible please continue to use online banking for payments (see note for “Payments” – OVC COVID19 rehearsal attendance procedures).
Please also note the following regarding our postponed 2019 AGM. The last AGM was held in June 2019 and since then the 2020 AGM was held over with the existing Committee members agreeing to continue serving for another 12 months. However, it is still not practical at present to hold an AGM and the Committee has agreed to carry on until December 2021. It is then planned to hold an AGM, preferably face-to-face or if necessary, by zoom. All Committee posts (5 – 12 positions) are available to be filled and members are encouraged to consider putting their names forward for election.

OVC COVID19 rehearsal attendance procedures commencing Thursday 09 September 2021
As you know the Government has lifted its COVID19 lockdown restrictions and Choirs can now return to rehearsing both indoor and outside.
As a committee and together with Jo Sear we have agreed upon the following rehearsal attendance procedures which come into effect Thursday 09 September 2021 until further notice. However, we will continually review these procedures and make any necessary changes as required.
When formulating these procedures, we carefully considered:
We have continued to adopt wherever possible the three fundamental safety principals HANDS (hygiene) + FACE (face coverings) + SPACE (social distancing), plus the ventilation of the rehearsal room.
Whilst we can take sensible and precautionary measures to help reduce the risk of the COVID19 virus spreading during rehearsals we CAN NOT FULLY ELIMINATE ALL RISK, and therefore each member must decide for themselves if they wish to attend rehearsals. Some members may have underlying health concerns and therefore may be in a high-risk group and this should be taken into consideration, furthermore we would not recommend anyone who has not been fully vaccinated to attend rehearsals.
It is incumbent upon US ALL to help protect each other from the COVID19 virus as we re-join as a group to enjoy once again singing together, and we must all play our part by embracing and complying with the following procedures. Each of you will be asked to confirm that you have read, understood, and will adopt these new rehearsal attendance procedures and we will register your acceptance.
Do NOT attend rehearsals if you or someone in your household:
We must all play our part in keeping our members and professionals safe and well and you should only attend rehearsals if you are feeling well, (you may wish to take a rapid lateral flow test before attending rehearsals and you can obtain the test kits free of charge from your local chemist).
Members Contact Details
During registration you will be asked to complete a new member’s registration form providing your contact telephone number and email address which we will use for COVID19 track and trace purposes. If after attending a rehearsal session you test positive for COVID19 you must immediately notify the Choir by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and providing the positive COVID19 test date. The Choir committee will then contact all members on the rehearsal register for the week prior to the members positive test date, the member reporting the COVID19 positive test will remain anonymous. Choir rehearsal may need to be cancelled or moved to the ZOOM online platform.
The virus can be transmitted by touching parts of the body close to your airway (i.e., face), therefor please use the hand sanitising soap provided each time you enter/re-enter the rehearsal room. Chairs will be cleaned before and after each rehearsal sessions with anti-bacterial wipes.
You MUST wear a face mask during and when queuing for registration and when you are moving around the other arears of the main building. We would strongly encourage you to always wear a face mask other than when seated.
Rehearsals – Social Distancing
As the virus is airborne, can accumulate in spaces where air is stationery or slow moving and can be transmitted more readily when persons are closer together, the following will apply
Please print out your own song sheets (which can be found on the OVC website -onevoicewatford.com).
Please bring your own refreshments and these will no longer be provided.
We would like to continue with online payments to minimise the handling of cash for both the individuals taking the register and treasurer who banks the cash each week. However, we do appreciate that not everyone has online banking so for those members please bring with you the exact money £4.00 as change will not be provided.

Members Update January 2021

Members Update September 2020
As you may be aware the government guidelines for social distancing requirements although relaxed in some areas, remain in place for large groups and so we are sadly unable to resume normal choir rehearsals at present. Furthermore, the Watford School of Music reopening rules require groups of more than 15 people to be divided and rehearsed separately which requires additional staffing. We will continue to monitor the situation and as always, put the safety and well-being of all our members at the forefront of any decisions we make.
Jo is very keen to keep the momentum of the Choir running, and following committee members feedback suggesting a more interactive experience, commencing Thursday 17 September 2020 at 7:30pm and each Thursday thereafter at 7.30pm for 45 minutes (excluding school holidays) Jo accompanied by Ken will be conducting real-time live rehearsal session using “ZOOM”, a free online app which you can easily download from the app store. Jo will NOT continue with her YOUTUBE videos.
How does “ZOOM” work?
As this is our first time using “ZOOM” there may be some technical issues to resolve during the initial set up, but we very much hope it will be a more enjoyable and interactive experience.
The first 6 weeks of the “ZOOM” rehearsal sessions will be free of charge up to Thursday 29 October, after which members will be required to make a contribution of £2.00 per rehearsal session.
To keep the mechanism of collecting members contributions as simple as possible we require you to make one payment for the remaining 6 weeks of this term's rehearsal sessions (commencing Thursday 05 November up to 10 December) of £12 or the equivalent amount for the number of sessions that you participated in. All payments should be made no later than 18 December 2020.

*** CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 27 May 2020***
We do hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well during this very unusual time. We thought we would share our views with you regarding the current COVID-19 position and how this will impact the Choir during the remainder of the summer term.
As you are all aware the country continues to remain in a lock down position, however the Government is making some measured changes to ease restrictions in certain areas, whilst maintaining social distancing at all time.
At this point in time, we do not envisage that the Choir will resume until after the school summer holidays (which ends in the first week of September) at the earliest and only then if the Government guidance permits group activities.
We do and will continue to put the safety and wellbeing of all our members at the forefront of any decisions we make regarding the Choir resuming rehearsals. Should there be any change in circumstances we will keep you up to date via our website and face book page.
We would like to express our enormous appreciation and thanks to Jo for her brillant efforts in providing warmups, songs and tuition for member rehearsal participation whilst in lock down. Jo's weekly updates (which will continue until mid-July) keep our voices in fine tune and our spirits high and we love receiving them.
